Carole is a Past President of the RIAI (2016-17) and during her presidency was committed to supporting sustainable careers in architecture, to raising the profile of architecture in Ireland, and to promoting the relevance of architects in the creation of a quality built environment. She devised the annual Women in Architecture Networking Evening, which has gone from strength to strength since the first event took place in 2017.

Carole Pollard hosted the conversation with invited guests Jennifer Boyer, Gráinne Dunne, Sarah-Jane Pisciotti, and Vicky Landy, with whom they shared their career journeys and the insights they had gathered along the way.

This year’s theme was "Career Paths," with five women architects sharing five different career paths and discussing the opportunities and challenges that exist for women architects.

We also had the pleasure of enjoying a performance by award-winning jazz composer and pianist, Carole Nelson.

Carole is a London-born musician who has been living in Ireland since 1986. She is known for her talents as a pianist, saxophonist, and composer, and has received numerous awards for her work in the jazz music industry.

During her performance at the RIAI Women in Architecture event, Carole played a selection of her original compositions, as well as some classic jazz standards. The audience was captivated by her musicianship and the energy she brought to the stage.
