A Vision for Bantry Bay and Harbour
Design Review Information
Bantry is remarkably fortunate in its most beautiful natural setting, in its fine urban structure, townscapes and buildings, and in the economic, social and cultural activities which sustain it. All these characteristics give Bantry vitality, character and function as an important market centre, serving two peninsulas and as an important economic and tourism centre in West Cork.
Bantry’s relationship with the sea – Bantry Bay and Harbour – is the subject of this Design Review, visioning process and report which have been initiated by the Port of Cork Company.
The RIAI were delighted to contribute to a Vision for Bantry Bay and Harbour through the Design Review process. The ideas contained in the Bantry report by the participating Architects demonstrate both a consideration and understanding of place and a repository of innovative ideas, while cognisant of context and available resources. The Report was launched in Bantry on 19 December 2019.
