Receiving their Irish Architecture Award for Best Cultural Building from RIAI President Ms. Michelle Fagan and Ruairí Quinn TD, Minister for Education and Skills TD were Keith Williams Architects

Strong composition and planar control, ally to an assured choice of materials, in creating a calm presence on the quayside for this elegant civic extension.  In forming a visual plinth for the cathedral behind, it complements its presence on the River Shannon.  Within, the galleries balance modern exhibition demands with the pleasure of glinting river views.
