Best House - Quarry House, Co. Wicklow - Andrew Clancy

Best House

Receiving Irish Architecture Award for Best House from RIAI President Ms. Michelle Fagan and Ruairí Quinn TD, Minister for Education and Skills TD was Andrew Clancy Architect

Andrew Clancy

WINNER: Quarry House, Co. Wicklow
ARCHITECT: Andrew Clancy
CLIENT: Private

Jury Citation:

These conjoined houses are threaded through existing planting on a sensitive mountainside location. Touching the site lightly, externally their materials and details are reticent but rhythmic, calmly and carefully positioned among the trees. Internally, the houses are warm and light-filled, knowingly referencing Scandinavian and Case-study antecedents while remaining inventive and assured at every level of detail and fit-out throughout.

Highly Commended - 4 house, Firhouse, Co. Dublin
