Remembering RIAI Honorary Member Frank McDonald

The RIAI is deeply saddened by the death of our Honorary Member, Frank McDonald Hon. MRIAI, on 5 September. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his husband, Éamon, and wider family, as well as to his friends and former colleagues.

Frank has been an Honorary Member of the RIAI since 2010, recognised for his significant contributions to architecture and the built environment through his advocacy, journalism and books. The RIAI appreciates the many contributions Frank has made over the years to RIAI conferences, books, magazines and important conversations about our built environment.

RIAI President, Fionnuala May FRIAI, said: “Frank McDonald Hon. MRIAI was a passionate and articulate champion for our built environment. He strongly believed that the Irish public deserved well-designed, inclusive, liveable and affordable cities. Frank leaves a strong legacy and will continue to inspire future generations of journalists and built environment advocates.”
