Join Shelley McNamara FRIAI and Yvonne Farrell FRIAI of Grafton Architects for their talk ‘Dublin: the City That Travels With Us’, 21 May
Internationally renowned architects Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara will reflect in their talk for Design Week Dublin on a truly inspiring body of work from across the world – including Lima, Milan, London, Paris and the US. Having set up their award-winning studio, Grafton Architects, on Grafton Street in 1978, the city of Dublin has remained an important source of inspiration and focus of their work.
In this special talk, in partnership with the RIAI, Yvonne and Shelley will discuss what they bring from Dublin to the world – the city’s unique geography, its character, people and sense of place.
Throughout their distinguished career, Yvonne and Shelley, together with their talented team, have won many awards, including architecture’s highest honour, the Pritzker Prize; the RIBA International Prize for the Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología in Lima; and the RIBA Stirling Prize for Town House, Kingston University London. They have been recognised by their professional bodies in Ireland and the UK with the RIAI Gold Medal, RIAI Gandon Medal and the RIBA Gold Medal.
Recent projects include The Marshall Institute, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, for the London School of Economics; the ESB headquarters in Dublin with OMP Architects; The School of Economics for the University of Toulouse and the Institut Mines Télécom University Building at Paris Saclay.
They are both Fellows of the RIAI, International Honorary Fellows of the RIBA and elected members of Aosdána.
