Irish Cities in Crisis (€40.00) - the most comprehensive book on Irish cities to-date. Edited by David Browne FRIAI, Jim Coady FRIAI and Dr Carole Pollard FRIAI, and published by the RIAI, it spans 678 pages of content by 29 contributors and includes case studies and examples of projects on successful European cities. The book, whilst calling out deficits in current city planning, discusses and offers solutions and initiatives to meet the challenges we are currently facing in our cities. It champions collaboration between civil society and local, regional and state governments to bring about change.
John Pawson: Making Life Simpler (€95.00) - John Pawson delivered a memorable lecture at the RIAI Conference in October on his work, clients, travel, photography, books and ideas. This book, written by Deyan Sudjic, an Architectural historian and long-time friend, features stories and anecdotes about Pawson’s work for people such as Bruce Chatwin, Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Shiro Kuramata and Martha Stewart, and is extensively illustrated by means of documents, photography and ephemera drawn from Pawson's personal and professional archives, including material published for the first time.
Architectural Tales (€10.00) - by Irish Architect Dominic Stevens MRIAI offers readers an intriguing blend of Architecture, philosophy, and storytelling, wrapped in a format that's accessible and insightful. A wonderful collection of unpredictable stories about people and the buildings they live in.
Barbican Residents: Inside the Iconic Brutalist Estate (€25.00) - showcases the intriguing mix of Barbican residents within the intimate settings of their own homes. Dublin In Sketches And Stories (€24.95) - the perfect gift for any lover of Dublin, municipal history or art. The book by Róisín Curé encapsulates Dublin’s soul, weaving together its history, people, and places with affection and insight. Stunning illustrations (over 125 of them) are in ink and watercolour, and, with one or two exceptions, were done right there on the street, from start to finish.
Iggy Peck, Architect: A Picture Book (€16.00) - by Andrea Beaty illustrated by David Roberts, is a charming children’s book that introduces young readers to the world of Architecture, creativity, and perseverance. A story told in verse, this is a book that shows the power of education. Young readers will love their time spent with Iggy Peck. They’ll love the story, colourful illustrations, and also learn about the passion and practicality of science (STEM).
Limited edition prints from the RIAI Murray Collection (€175.00) - A special treat for Architecture aficionados is the limited edition RIAI Murray Collection print series. The Murray Collection contains approximately 1,230 Architectural drawings spanning 160 years, and was presented to the RIAI by Albert Murray in 1923.This limited-edition series features four buildings from the collection (150 prints each): Armagh Courthouse, Armagh by Francis Johnston (1805); Kings Inns, Dublin by James Gandon (1800); Town Hall, Cork by Murray & Denny (1851); and The GPO, Dublin by Francis Johnston (1814-1825). The original artworks are reproduced in beautiful, high-quality lithographic art prints, and are available for purchase from the RIAI Bookshop.
