Call for Nominations for Honorary Membership and Honorary Fellowship
The RIAI recognises individuals who contribute to the Institute and the field of Architecture in the form of Honorary Membership and Honorary Fellowship. The RIAI Council will consider nominations for Honorary Membership and Honorary Fellowship at its forthcoming meeting in October 2025.
Honorary Memberships are awarded to individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds for their contribution to the built environment, while Honorary Fellowships are presented to those with an architectural background. Honorary Members and Honorary Fellows shall be entitled to use the affix Hon. MRIAI or Hon. FRIAI respectively.
RIAI Members who wish to propose a candidate for either distinction are invited to send their nomination with a short resumé, signed by three Registered Members by 23 September 2025 honsec@riai.ie
Notable recipients include: Mary Robinson Hon. MRIAI, Former President of Ireland; Pritzker Prize recipients Sir David Chipperfield Hon. FRIAI and Rafael Moneo Hon. FRIAI; Odile Decq Hon. FRIAI, visionary French architect and advocate for diversity; Architects Matthias Sauerbuch Hon. FRIAI and Louisa Hutton Hon. FRIAI of Sauerbruch Hutton (pictured); Architectural Historians Professor Christine Casey Hon. MRIAI and Dr. Ellen Rowley Hon. MRIAI; and Architectural critic Shane O’Toole Hon FRIAI.
