Bushra Alhoni receives John Meagher Memorial Bursary 2026

The RIAI and the Trustees of the John Meagher Memorial Bursary are delighted to announce that Bushra Alhoni, a fourth-year architecture student from Atlantic Technological University, Sligo is the recipient of this year’s award.

The late John Meagher – esteemed architect, RIAI Gold Medal winner and founding partner of de Blacam & Meagher – had made a bequest in his will for “a fourth-year architecture student to travel to Finland and/or Sweden to study the work of Alvar Aalto, Sigurd Lewerentz and others, and report back afterwards”.

Bushra Alhoni said: “Receiving this bursary is a real honour. I always imagined a journey like this would come much later in life, so I’m incredibly grateful and excited to begin it soon. I look forward to exploring and sharing my experiences of encountering architecture beyond photographs.”
