Event Information
The RIAI is pleased to announce that the RIAI CIM 2027 Grade 3 will take place in December 2026 and January 2027 on the following dates:
- Day 1, Thursday 17 December - Zoom webinar
- Day 2, Tuesday 12 January - Zoom webinar
- Day 3, Thursday 14 January - Zoom webinar
- Day 4, Tuesday 19 January - Site Visit, Dublin City Centre
- Day 5, Thursday 21 January - Zoom webinar
- Day 6, Tuesday 26 January - Zoom webinar
- Day 7, Thursday 28 January - Zoom webinar
Attendance consists of seven intensive training days. Participants are required to attend at least six of the seven training days listed above to be eligible to take the examination.
The examination will consist of one ‘open-book’ exercise involving both short factual questions and longer scenario-based questions. The examination paper will be made available to candidates on 1 March 2027 with a closing date of 29 March 2027. Participants must be available to undertake the exam during this period. An information session on the exam will be held online in early February 2027.
Course Objective
The RIAI Conservation Induction Module (CIM) is designed to provide the entry level skills outlined in the Standard of Knowledge Skill and Competence for RIAI Conservation Accreditation for eligibility for ‘RIAI Architect Accredited in Conservation at Grade 3’. The aim of the course is to provide participants with an introduction to the principles and practice of architectural conservation.
- The course covers general information on the philosophy, principles and responsibilities of Architectural conservation and the identification of key areas in which advice should be sought.
- Participants should finish the course with enough awareness of the concepts and of the tools available to form the basis for a responsible approach to work on protected structures and on our architectural heritage in general.

Please note: Group bookings cannot be accepted. Individual Members from Local Authorities wishing to pay via purchase order must contact Teresa Harte at tharte@riai.ie. All other members must make payment at the time of booking via the registration link.
Terms and Conditions
Confirmation is subject to event fee being finalised. Cancellation fees calculated at 50% of the estimated total bill will be charge for confirmed bookings cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the date of the planned event. A replacement person can attend instead. Cancellations made the day prior to an event will be charged 75% of the total estimated bill. No-shows will be charged the full fee. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing by email. RIAI will not be liable for any costs in the event of a course being re-scheduled.
The course is open to Registered Architect Members of the RIAI.
