Building Control, BCMS Online Submission of Fire Safety Certificates

The National Building Control Office (NBCO) and The RIAI will jointly host a lunchtime webinar about the new Online Applications (Fire Safety Certificate, Disability Access Certificate and Dispensation from/Relaxation of a part of the Building Regulations) module on the BCMS.

Sabrina McDonnell, Senior Engineer will demonstrate a BCMS online Fire Safety Certificate submission. The 40-minute session will take place at 12pm on Thursday, 6 August 2020.

The aim of the webinar is to give attendees a better understanding of the requirements and process involved in the online submission of Fire Safety Certificates onto the BCMS.

Chartered Senior Engineer at National Building Control Office, Dublin City Council

 Biography: Sabrina McDonnell is a Chartered, Senior Engineer and member of Engineers Ireland, working in the National Building Control Management Office (NBCO). The Office was set up to provide oversight, support & direction for the development, standardisation and implementation of Building Control as an effective shared service in the 31 Building Control Authorities through the five pillars of Training, Inspections, Compliance & Support, IT-Enabler (BCMS) and Market Surveillance.  Sabrina is responsible for the management and development of the Building Control Management System (BCMS), which is provided for in the Building Control Regulations as the preferred means of Building Control administration in Ireland. She has implemented the Commencement Notices, Certificates of Compliance on Completion and the Building Register; and is now deploying the online Fire Safety Certificate, Disability Access Certificates and Dispensation/Relaxations.  She is an Associate Lecturer on IT Carlows’ Certificate in Building Control Management. Prior to her current role she spent 12 years in the Local Government Management Agency working on research and technology projects. This was preceded by a Software Development contracting and other Engineering roles in the private sector. 

Sabrina holds an MSc in Management of Information Systems from TCD, a BEng in Electronic Engineering from DCU and a Certificate in Project Management.
