RIAI – DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND SKILLS

ARCHITECTURAL GRADUATE TRAINING SCHEME 2017

The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland and the Department of Education and Skills (DES) are inviting applications for the Architectural Graduate Training Scheme.

The Training Scheme is designed for recent graduates, who have a recognised qualification in architecture. The selection process will be shortlisting for competitive interview in December 2017 with a start date of January 2018. At this time, we are recruiting for two architectural graduate positions.

The training scheme will provide practical experience for those wishing to prepare for the DIT or UCD Diploma in Professional Practice.

Placement, in the DES Planning and Building Unit, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, will be for 36 months only, at a salary of €30,000 p.a.

The Department of Education and Skills has an important role in the design and construction of the Irish Schools Building Programme. The DES Planning and Building Unit is part of a multi-disciplinary service and has a wide range of projects around the country.

Testimonials from Former Graduates on the RIAI / DES Training Scheme
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the DES and found that I got a great variety of experience across all work stages. I felt very lucky to gain so much site experience as a graduate and felt I learnt a lot throughout my 3 years spent there. I would go back in a heartbeat-it’s a great place to work!”

“In my three years on the RIAI-DES scheme, I gained the widest range of experience of all my peers.  I was involved in everything from forming briefs, conceptual and detail design, the development and presentation of feasibility studies, all across a number of projects around the country.  All of this in an environment that is genuinely interested in its staff’s professional development.  This is much more than just a job opportunity.”
