Thank you from the RIAI Simon Open Door Team

Published: Friday, May 24, 2019

The RIAI would like to thank its members for supporting this year’s RIAI Simon Open Door campaign which ran from Saturday 11th until Sunday 19th of May across the country. The 15th annual architect-led campaign raised funds to help tackle the housing and homeless crisis.  Almost €887,000 had been raised for the Simon Communities of Ireland by the Irish public and registered architects by the end of 2018. This year €144,255 was raised in total, bringing the total amount raised in 15 years to 1,031,255.

As part of the annual partnership between the RIAI and the Simon Community, members of the public are encouraged to sign up for a one-hour consultation with an RIAI-registered architect in exchange for a donation of just €95.  All funds raised go directly to the Simon Communities of Ireland.

We like to thank our campaign spokesperson, architect and broadcaster Dermot Bannon, MRIAI and all the architects who spoke on regional radio. Thank you to the Department of Architecture at the Waterford Institute of Technology who raised €1000 during their Architecture Festival for this year's campaign.
