RIAI Walks Talks  Walks+Talks
On Saturday 28 January, the RIAI was delighted to hold a Walk +Talk in Roscommon as part of our public walks of winning projects from the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards 2016. Our guide was John Parker, Director of ABK Architects who led the group of 25 people around Roscommon Civic Offices, which was awarded Best Public Building. It was also nominated for the EU Mies van Der Rohe Award 2017 for Architecture.

Not only did ABK design 6600m2 of office accommodation, laboratories, canteen and Council Chamber but also looked at connecting the buildings to the existing urban grain of the Town incorporating the 19th-century Gaol and courthouse.

We raised €130 for the Simon Communities of Ireland on the day. Thank you to Noel Martin and Nollaig Feeney of Roscommon County Council for their help.

Our next Walk + Talk will be led by Westport Town Architect Simon Wall on Saturday 1 April. Booking will be available on the RIAI website in the coming weeks.
