Pyrite – The Report of the Pyrite Panel

Published: Tuesday, July 31, 2012

The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government commissioned a report, in September 2011, on the reactive pyrite that affected, and continuous to affect, a significant number of houses in the Dublin region and including Kildare Offaly and Meath.

The report is extensive in its remit, and it makes a comprehensive set of recommendations. The report is timely, and is of particular interest, as it is related closely to the establishment of a chain of responsibility for design and construction in the Draft Building Control Amendment Regulations public consultation document, consultations with “stakeholders” in the construction industry, which are on-going, and of which the RIAI is a prominent participant.
