Cork Institute of Technology's Architecture Factory has won another major design honour winning an A'design Platinum A' Design Award in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design Category 2013/14 in Italy.

Representing CIT, and the design team, Marc O Riain, accepted the award from the President of the International Society of Designers at the A'design Awards Ceremony at a ceremony in Lake Como, Italy.

The prize-winning interior of the former TYCO building is straight out of a design magazine, bright, funky and fun. The design was by CIT lecturer, O Riain and developed and delivered by project Architects, RKD. The exciting modern space is defined by the six lime-green used shipping containers serving as offices which surround the open plan design studios.

The high level of competition is testament to the CIT project which has been gathering international attention since winning the Irish Design Grand Prix last November, and featuring as a finalist in the International Architizer awards in New York in March and ácoming runner up in the Core 77 awards in June, also in New York. The project now carries on to the World Festival of Architecture and Interiors in Singapore in October.
