Nuno Brandão Costa

Nuno Brandão Costa is one of the foremost architects working in Portugal today. Born in Porto, Portugal, in 1970, he graduated from FAUP in 1994. He worked with Herzog & de Meuron and with José Fernando Gonçalves & Paulo Providencia in Porto. In 1998, after winning the 1st prize for project of the Central Library of the Faculdade de Ciências Humanas da Universidade Nova in Lisbonand the 2nd prize for the Project of the Portuguese Embassy in Berlin, he opened his office in Porto. In November 2004 Costa won the Jornal Expresso/Sic.12 anos award. He also won the Secil 2008 award, the premier prize in Portuguese architecture for the Building - Móveis Viriato. He has been nominated for the Mies Van der Rohe 2008 award for the Farm in Bouçós.

He is a Professor of Architecture at FAUP.


The lecture will be filmed so please arrive early. This lecture is in conjunction with UCC Architecture society.
