This is a 100 learning hour module, comprising 24 contact hours, and 76 self directed learning hours. The module is delivered 3 hours per week over 8 weeks as a standalone CPD module, and 6 hours per week over 4 weeks as part of the DT775 CPD Diploma (BIM Technologies) programme.

Programme Objectives:
The BIM Architecture: Primary Building Elements module is aimed at AEC industry professionals wanting to up-skill in the area of BIM Technologies. This is an introductory module and will develop the learner’s knowledge of basic techniques for creating a digital building model

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the BIM Architecture: Primary Building Elements module the student will be able to:
• Select an appropriate application template to begin a building project.
• Describe the organisation of the graphic user interface and identify the hierarchy to be able to locate and execute commands, sub commands on the GUI
• Set up grids and levels for precise 3d element drawing
• Interpret sketch and CAD designs for creation of a BIM project
• Create a building mass to reflect the proposed building shape, size and volume
• Construct and edit primary building elements
• Organise building data on to digital plotting sheets
