Date: This course is delivered from 1 – 2 pm (one lecture per day) on Tuesdays over 12 weeks from 4 March to 20 May 2014, followed by a morning walking tour on Saturday 12th April.

Cost: It is possible to attend all, one, or as many of the talks as you wish.  The talks are priced at €10 (€5 students), which you may pay for at the door or book in advance for a special reduced price of €100 (€50 students) for all 12 lectures.  The Saturday morning walking tour will be at an additional cost of €10 (€5 students).

Class Size: 70 Max

Programme Objectives:
The course will deliver an understanding on the appreciation, care, conservation and maintenance of Dublin City’s historic housing stock in both the general and particular. 

Learning Outcomes:
There will be lectures on the history, significance and conservation of historic; windows; doors and staircases; ironwork; bricks; lime pointing; and decorative plasterwork; as well as themed conservation lectures addressing: conservation principles; protected structure planning legislation; grant aid; engineering solutions for dealing with water ingress in historic buildings; sensitively extending historic buildings; and implementing appropriate energy efficiency measures.
