This online course comprises of a live recording of the RAI Business CPD  - Developing Sustainable Careers in Architecture. The RIAI Business CPD is designed to provide you with some of the tools necessary to develop your business.

The Presenters include RIAI members and experts from the field sharing their experience of what works and doesn't work for them.

Course Aim:
The aim of this Business CPD is to help develop sustainable careers in architecture by supporting RIAI members in the further development of their business skills and showcase alternative approaches to the business challenges and opportunities for small to medium architectural practices.

Course Format:
The RIAI Business CPD covers three key themes:

• Valuing your service and charging for it
• Marketing strategy and PR
• HR: Attracting and maintaining the right staff

This online CPD course is delivered via RIAI Digital Chalk

  • Following receipt of your payment via MyRIAI you will receive an email from the RIAI CPD Division providing your login details for RIAI Digital Chalk
  • This online course will be accessible from your RIAI Digital Chalk account for 6 months from the date of registration
  • The RIAI will send you a CPD certificate for 5 structured CPD points on completion of the online CPD.

Each session will begin with a presentation on the theme for that session by a keynote speaker as an expert in the field. The theme will then be addressed by a number of RIAI members who have kindly agreed to share their approach to the particular topic to hand using case studies and examples of their personal experience.

  • To understand the difference between native and imported construction timber and their applications.
  • To learn about timber grading and responsible sources.
  • To learn about the different species of hardwoods.
  • To learn how to correctly treat and store timber to avoid defects

The seminar is 1.5 Structured CPD Point.
