The Living Light
Architect:
Noreile Breen
Award Type:
Irish Architecture Awards
Location:
This research project evaluates the perceptual effect and qualities of Irish daylight to inform the design of healthy and sustainable buildings. Light is a free resource and one of the most important building materials of architecture. The research begins to analyse and better understand the phenomena through investigation of the practical aspects of light, examination of exemplar case studies, testing of large scale spatial models using light measuring equipment and the development of working methodologies in teaching and in practice.
