Thinking Space – Launches 24 March, Tallaght

Published: Thursday, March 08, 2012

Thinking Space, curated by Irenie McLoughlin, Architectural Conservation Officer, South Dublin County Council, is opening on Saturday, 24 March from 11am to 3pm in the County Library Tallaght. As part of the event, PAC Studio Architects will exhibit their work created for the programme: Urban Chess – a large scale interactive model of a future Tallaght, constantly morphing and responding to player's concepts of a living city, whilst Inside Out is a 'peephole' exhibit describing housing conditions over the last 100 years - a composite drawing / model, questioning the domestic condition in our (crashed) market-driven Irish cities. www.pacstudio.ie

Thinking Space invites the public to be designers and let their imagination about our built environment take over. This creative space will introduce architecture and how buildings are formed through information, images, interactive materials and architectural books. It is open to children and adults. Work created throughout the programme will be exhibited in the Thinking Space and the public is invited to share their impressions and designs. Google SketchUp will be available between 12:00-3:00pm in the Digital Suite for all those interested in experiencing how your ideas can come to life through this fun and easy 3D Modelling tool. There will be events for all on the day including a family workshop and a dance walk.
