RIAI seeks Members’ support in supplying verifications for Technical Assessment Applicants

Posted: Wednesday, February 03, 2010

The RIAI seeks the support of Members and Practices approached to supply verifications for Technical Assessment applicants.

Technical Assessment is a key element of the ongoing programme to register all eligible individuals as architects in the State under the terms of the Building Control Act 2007. Technical Assessment is a system designed to assess individuals who have been practising as architects for more than 10 years before 1 May 2008 without the benefit of recognised qualifications. The Technical Assessment Board has a statutory responsibility to ensure that the system works effectively and fairly, the RIAI is administering the system with oversight by this Board.

Making a submission under the Technical Assessment system is a significant task and applicants are required to verify all claims made as to work done. You may be approached by a Technical Assessment applicant to verify work being presented. If you are in a position to provide the verification e.g. if you were an employer or a colleague who has the necessary knowledge to verify the work, you are requested to do so as quickly and as effectively as you can. Applicants under this scheme are reliant on others to verify their work and it is in everybody’s interest to ensure that this is done as well as possible. The RIAI would welcome the support of Members and Practices in supplying this information in a positive and timely manner.

If you have any questions about the provision of verifications please contact the Admissions Director Margaret Hynds O’Flanagan moflanagan@riai.ie
