RIAI launches new online CPD service for members
Published: Tuesday, March 31, 2009
Today, 31 March 2009, the RIAI launched its new online CPD service for members - RIAI CPD Engage. The benefits to members include:
- CPD delivered directly to members in the location of their choice
- CPD at a low cost, in some cases free
- CPD accessible at any time
- Increased subject matter
- Easily maintained records
When you log into the system you will see an image of Grafton Architects' Universita Luigi Bocconi, Milan, Italy. The Bocconi Project was named World Building of the Year at the inaugural World Architecture Festival in 2008. The RIAI is grateful to Grafton Architects for allowing the Institute to use this image as the signature image for the Institute's new CPD system, demonstrating the heights practice can reach, which is what CPD is all about promoting.
RIAI CPD Engage provides you with information on all RIAI CPD courses, identifies free reading material by subject, lists relevant non RIAI courses and provides the opportunity to review and set your own education targets for the year. The system is fully personalised and secure.
RIAI CPD Engage will help you to self-assess your ongoing learning and development needs against the RIAI Standards of Knowledge, Skill and Competence. RIAI CPD Engage will replace the RIAI CPD Bulletin and the CPD area of the RIAI website as the most direct way for you to access information about CPD. The system will provide you with links to new regulations, exciting developments in architectural design and information about how to learn more about specific areas of practice.
Some programmes will be available to access online (so you can undertake CPD anywhere from the office to the sofa) which greatly increases access and flexibility for members and registrants all over the country and beyond; reducing time and money spent on travel, and letting you decide when it is the right time to do CPD.
RIAI CPD Engage is available to all active architect, associate, architectural graduate and architectural technician members and fellows who are up to date with their subscriptions and who have provided the Institute with a valid unique email address.
From today members are receiving email notifications explaining how to access the system. To use RIAI CPD Engage go to http://cpd.riai.ie. Your login is your member number prefaced with the letters riai e.g. riai99999 or riai00001; your password is you web login password. You cannot change these details on RIAI CPD Engage because they are loaded directly from the RIAI database. If you have lost your login details contact Antje Baeger email@example.com.
The RIAI welcomes suggestions and comments from members. These should be sent to Sandra Campbell at firstname.lastname@example.org
You can download a copy of the user manual, which is also located within the resources section of RIAI CPD Engage.
