Published: Wednesday, October 05, 2011

International journalists from Italy, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Poland who write for cultural publications recently visited Dublin at the invitation of Fáilte Ireland. The group explored new Dublin architecture through Architecture Tours Ireland. ATI is a joint initiative between the RIAI and the Irish Architecture Foundation. RIAI Assistant Director Kathryn Meghen said: “Our guides have a passion for architecture and a desire to show off Dublin’s achievements”. The group is pictured on the Dublin Docklands tour with ATI Guide Simon McGough. They were also given a special tour of Grand Canal Theatre by architects Dan Daye and Martin Spillane of MDO Architects. The journalists were treated to a preview of Open House Dublin by visiting the splendidly restored No 11 North Great George’s Street and the new Lir Theatre. Commenting on the successful architecture programme for the foreign media, Antoinette Reilly, Publicity Officer with Fáilte Ireland, said: “By providing international journalists with a positive experience of their visit to Ireland, it is our hope that the coverage created will be a lasting legacy.” www.architecturetours.ie
