Cooney Architects Win Green Apple Award for Architectural Design Excellence
Published: Friday, October 12, 2012

Cooney Architects have been awarded ‘Gold’ for Architectural Design Excellence at the 2012 Green Apple Awards for a refurbished and extended Victorian house in Dublin. The project ‘Albert Road’ involved renovating and extending an existing Victorian home in south Dublin using the principles of conservation and green design – achieving an impressive energy upgrade from F to B1. The modern new rear extension contrasts with the historic frontage and was intended to present two overlapping forms; one in zinc and one in traditional lime plaster.
The 2012 Green Apple Awards were held at a prestigious ceremony in the East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf, London earlier this year. Launched in 1994, the Green Apple Awards have become a prestigious annual event, recognising environmental endeavour around the world. The overall national green winners were Ashley Pettit Architects. The 2013 Green Apple Awards are open for Entry.
