Commonage’s second Summer School runs in Callan, Co. Kilkenny, from 1 to 17th August. This two-week design and build programme explores the potential of building as a collective endeavour. Designs will be developed through on the ground research and realised through workshops led by designers, architects and local tradespeople. Participants will gain practical experience in traditional building technologies with an emphasis on self-build, low-tech construction methods. An expansive programme of evening and weekend events, lectures, discussions, film screenings, walks, local field trips, and music will run in conjunction with day activities. These events, along with a day-long seminar on August 11th will be open to the public.
