Architecture Republic at Abbey Road Artist’s Studios, Athlone
Published: Thursday, February 16, 2012
Architecture Republic will be inhabiting the top floor of Abbey Road Artist's Studios in Athlone for an exhibition of domestic architecture titled 'In House' which takes 20 projects out of the studio and into the public domain. The exhibition consists of drawings, conceptual images and scale models that explore a variety of refurbishments, extensions, conversions and new-build housing on urban-infill sites.
The theme of the exhibition is the act of making domestic space; investigating innovative ways of housing the modern family in all its variants. As society develops and evolves, the accepted standard of the family house is no longer as relevant as it once was, and as a society we must adapt and grow our housing stock in ways which meet the challenges of this new orthodoxy. Following on from the initial show in the Plastic House in Dublin, the exhibition will move to a new location each month. Keep an eye on the website for updates http://www.architecture-republic.com
'In House' will run in Abbey Road Artist's Studios, Athlone from 17 February until 02 March . Open Mon-Sat 1pm-4pm. There will be a wine reception and introduction by Maxim Laroussi on Friday 17th February @ 5.30pm. All welcome.
