Programme Objectives:
This programme is a training course and symposium geared toward the fields of architecture, design and craft and will combine theory and practical demonstrations of the approach and processes in a workshop, and discuss current and upcoming trends in design in order to create greater synergy between designers, architects and makers in Ireland.
Learning Objectives:
Understanding wood as a material, its growing patterns, working techniques
A general knowledge of Japanese hand-held tools and their effective uses
A general understanding of custom-made Jigs and how they are enhanced by the Festool System
A general knowledge of high quality lacquer wood finishes
Understanding digital tools and their role in design, modelling and fabrication
Understanding the use of digital design and production techniques and how digital technologies are becoming more accessible and affordable
A general knowledge of the properties of wood and how it is used in a furniture workshop
Understanding various material properties and how this can inform the design process
Understanding essential aspects of communicating the work of a designer/maker:

- Photography
- Visualization
